so the emergency stay requested by bob barr for the mailing of absentee ballots was denied today. it’s very fun reading.  i guess the lawsuit to have mccain and obama removed is still alive.  for the lazy’s out there the attorney general of texas basically says that it’s a threat to the rights of military personnel to not mail the ballots.  he also gives a try at discrediting bob barr by showing quotes from him championing the time standards on absentee ballots as a right of military personnel.  i’m may be wrong in how i read this but the quotes they give show him fighting for standards to be followed in elections and the lawsuit and emergency stay show him fighting to enforce the rules set for elections.  it’s great how we are so concerned with democracy around russia, china, and iran, but we can’t even get to a fair system in our own homeland.

this coupled with Rail Town USA and the new socialist financial system created and backed by mccain and obama really makes me think about following people to somewhere else.  at least it’s free popcorn friday at the bank downstairs.  that will almost make things better.

so 30 us representatives got together and drafted this resolution.

it started on 7/31/08 in committee #1

moved on 8/1/08 to committee #2

moved back to committee #1 on 8/17/08
started talking about it at 3:54pm
moved to debate at 3:55pm
after 21 minutes of “debate” they realized that a quorum was not present and suspended action on the resolution

in a nutshell it would be a piece of paper recognizing north platte, nebraska, as `Rail Town USA’.  now i know i work with cost estimates all day and by default anything i do or read i think about how much it costs, but it doesn’t take a genius to think about how many people touched this resolution and how many minutes each person spent on it and the value of each minute of that persons time.  i paid for 21 minutes of debate that only concluded that not enough people were present to vote anyway.  i didn’t bother to see who started this resolution or what party they are loyal to.  i do believe though that they and all their staff and the 29 cosponsors should be fired.  who cares what side they are on, fire all of them.

UPDATE:
9/18/09 resolution was brought back out and it was agreed that it was unfinished business, then it was voice voted that they should suspend the quorum rules and allow a vote. the motion to suspend the rules and the motion to pass the resolution both passed.

they really couldn’t do this the day before during the 21 minutes of counting the people in the room. fire Adrian Smith and the 29 other idiots. and give me my money back too. i’m sure nebraska is great but i don’t want to pay for their marketing slogan development. i won’t even go into how all this was just committee level and still must go to the floor to be real law and the precedent that they are setting with allowing the suspension of the rules.

update: the post for some reason showed it was from drew. she gets too fired up about this issue and we would not let her post her thoughts in an effort to keep the site g rated.

this is a nifty article about the impacts from ethanol.

so this year government law states that 5% of gas should be ethanol and it is to go to 22% by 2022.  but if we used a third of our corn to get to 5%,  i don’t have the time right now to run the calculation, but a quick look says we can’t physically get to 22%. also, if the ethanol industry is almost completely subsidized by the government (my money) and corn prices are at an all time high, that’s got to be some big profits for somebody.  we should windfall tax corn too.  or at least stop making me pay to support the industry and then pay for it again when I buy gas.

come on people, we can create a whole drug industry for ADHD and do breast augmentation through the belly button.  can we really not come up with a better idea for alternative fuels.

maybe the $150 billion i’ll be forced to pay after november to subsidize more research will get us another idea.
