it appears that bob barr is the only candidate for president that will appear on the ballot.  the deadline was august 26th and the texas secretary of state website only has him listed for the ballot.  i will be waiting for the excuses from the state or the repub’s or dem’s about this error.  i’m guessing it will have something to do with a delay of updating the website or the georgia conflict.  probably won’t hear the truth which is that they both believe it beneath them to have to register for anything.  they are already exempt from getting signatures from people which is what every other party has to do.  it’s blasphemy that they should even have to register for the ballot.

Update:

repub and dem candidates have been added.  no excuss just deal with.

regardless of your party flavor, james carville is a powerful political mind and only knows how to win.  his comments about last nights kick off party should be disturbing to leaders of the democratic party.  it’s crazy how they treat him like he doesn’t know how to win.

“If this party has a message it’s done a hell of a job hiding it tonight, I promise you that,” carville said.

I thought I might give this blog thing a try….

As Matt and I gather around the television night after night to watch the 2008 Olympics in an attempt to spend some “quality” spouse time he reminds me on a number of occasions of his extraordinary athletic ability…. See example below.

B: I could have gone gold!

Amber: oh really? (spitting out wine from laughter)

B: Of course. I was born to win.

Amber: Just which sport are you “born to win”?

B: Don’t you mean which sport”s”

Amber: Sorry, I often forget the self-disciplined machine I’m married to…

i’m on my single speed at 6:20am, lost in the maze of hills that is travis country west looking for the “shortcut” past the big hill on southwest parkway.

lesson learned: there are no shortcuts in life

so i made the first ride into work today. i was going to ride the bus into the city and then head over to the office. i missed the bus and if i waited for the next one it would have put me in downtown at about 7:45. i didn’t really feel like inconveniencing all the young professional’s driving and talking on their cell phones so i thought “i can do do this, i’m badowski” so yada yada yada as i was looking for a big ditch or small cliff i could ride off to end it all i realized i was almost to the office.

lesson learned: single speeds are for suckers, there is nothing cool about them

as expected my legs warmed up at around mile 10 on the last 50 feet into my parking garage. imagine my lack of shock when i found that the new trendyhippie.com bike lockup’s that the city of austin requires these days doesn’t exactly fit every bike. i didn’t sweat at all the whole ride, but was drenched by the time i got the bike locked up in the humid, lowest level, no air flow, in the corner of the garage area.

overall it was a good ride. not too hard. i will be riding the bus home though. and will lock up the bike on the cables behind my parking spot tomorrow.
