As the picture proves- Drew showed to be less than enthusiastic about the sad-little-wanna-be-snow we got last week… in some states I think they even call it ice, but hey- it’s Texas, we take what we can get. Guess we’re not moving to Colorado anytime soon…
not that i believe the position should even exist, but it looks like our president-elect will be hiring the governor of arizona for the top homeland security job. it’s my understanding that this position allows for a large partisan staff to act as a catch-all for information from fbi, cia, nsa, etc. i may be wrong on that though. it was refreshing to see that the arizona governor’s experience is mainly as a staunch democrat that has been us and state attorneys and a governor. am i wrong to think that she is as qualified to parse intelligence data as what’s his name (brown?) was to run fema. hope it works. good luck governor.
Those crazy kids in the science labs over at Rice University have been brewing up something they’re calling ‘bio beer’ having a better ring to it than it’s original ‘Frankenbeer’ moniker… it’s beer that helps to fight against diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer’s, and heart disease. Unfortunately most of the mad scientists brewing it up aren’t of age to legally consume their product yet. I can’t think of a better reason to raise a pint… just let me know when that fundraiser comes to town.

Hands down, our best parenting decision so far (just kidding mom), Drew as Princess Leia for Halloween. I don’t even think Carrrie Fisher’s buns were this impressive…. just looking at the fullness, and precise placement of each bun. I get a ‘Drew clap’ for this one!!
It was a pretty fun Halloween this year, being Drew’s first time to really experience the festive holiday. Although she was in fact around to witness it last year… sitting in a pig costume while we all laugh at her doesn’t really constitute as a first. She’s really beginning to get the hang of it… of course with the pros showing us around you can’t really go wrong, cousins Dylan and Maddie toured us around their neighborhood this year for some trick-or-treating fun. Maddie really knowing where to score the good stuff, and pointing out which houses you want to stay away from (i.e. the peppermint-passer-outers and pretzel-givers; stupid dentists).
Dylan on the other hand, quickly became a master of the lollipops…. it was like watching someone pick out a fine cigar… smelling it, licking the wrapper, and twirling them between his fingers… a lollipop connoiseur if you will. All in all it was pretty successful, bringing in close to 1lb of candy, but hey that’s a lot of leg work for someone her size. And, maybe next year she’ll get to eat some of it before Matt confiscates it for “quality control”.
And on a separate note, I hope she continues to let us pick out her costumes for years to come although I know we’re probably at the end of that road. I dread the day she announces she wants to be Hannah Montana for Halloween… or some other 16 year old that rakes in $18 million dollars a year.
One holiday down, 3 more to go…. wish us luck!
it’s almost over, i just hope i’ve saved enough money to get me through the next 4 years as i’m sure, come january 20, the final solution to the mess we are in will be to take more of my money and distribute it “appropriately”. maybe the newer deal will work better this time, who knows.
mark papermaster, this guy should be working for the government with a handle like that.
